Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is Square Enix and TOSE's next monster-wrangling RPG. You pick Bianca or Nera, scout more than 500 creatures, and synthesize stronger children while restoring the Kingdom of Witherwood. A playable demo lets you finish the Witherwood opening and carry eight monsters into the full game on December 3, 2026. When does Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World launch?
Square Enix set a worldwide date of December 3, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Microsoft Store. Digital Deluxe early access is planned for December 1, 2026 at 9:00am PST.
Is there a demo, and does progress carry over?
Yes. The demo covers the story through the Witherwood opening. You can transfer up to eight monsters from your main party and reserves into the full game on the same platform. They return at level 1 with default talents. Items and gold do not transfer. See the demo guide.
Should I play as Bianca or Nera?
Bianca leans offense and scouts beasts, dragons, and the undead more easily. Nera leans defense and MP and scouts slimes, nature, and material monsters more easily. You can switch later in the full adventure. Details are on Bianca vs Nera.
Which languages does this wiki support?
English at the root path, plus French, German, and Spanish. Steam also ships Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese text; those locales are not mirrored here.
Does the game have online play?
Yes. Steam lists online PvP, online co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer, plus tournaments. Wranglers still command a monster party rather than fighting in person. Check Updates as modes are documented closer to launch.
