Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World Day-One DLC Packs

Four launch packs, one bundle, and the Deluxe trap.

Day-One DLC

Four downloadable packs launch with Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World on December 3, 2026. Each is listed at $9.99 except where a roundup quoted Scout Run VIP at $4.99 — Square Enix’s 4-Item Set at $34.99 is the figure to trust for the bundle, and Digital Deluxe already contains all four. This page is what the packs do, not a sermon about day-one DLC as a concept.

The Mega Mole Hole — $9.99

Special dungeons that only spawn monsters you have already befriended. You choose rank and family to raise the odds of meeting the exact parent you need. Square Enix explicitly says this helps with monsters that only appear in one place at one time, or that you otherwise only get through synthesis.

This is a breeding dungeon, not a new story chapter. If you synthesize a lot, Mole Hole is the pack that saves hiking. If you barely scout, it is empty rooms.

Monster Marathons — $9.99

A minigame: send a party, tell them when to run and jump on a side-scrolling stage, collect crafting items, EXP, and gold based on distance and whether you finish. RPGFan flagged it as a new Monster Marathon mode after the Direct. It is not Wrangler’s Gauntlet. Gauntlet is a battle mode from the September trailer. Marathons is an expedition toy.

Buy this if you like idle-adjacent looping. Skip it if your fun is battles and scouting.

Metallic Ring — $9.99

Use it in the field to turn nearby enemies into metal slimes, liquid metal slimes, metal king slimes, or hunter mechs. Unlimited uses, 30 in-game minutes between uses. This is the EXP and rare-metal pack. Series veterans know why it exists. New wranglers should know it does not replace a talent plan; it just feeds one faster.

Scout Run VIP Card — listed $9.99 in most roundups

Scout Run exists in the base game. The card adds extra scouty snacks, more monster spawns during a run, and a shorter wait between uses. It is a quality-of-life multiplier on a system Square Enix has not fully documented in English yet. If you bounce off scouting in the demo, this card will not make you like percentages. If you love filling the 500, it is the obvious snack pack.

How to buy without doubling up

  • Digital Deluxe ($94.99) already includes the 4-Item Set plus Way of the Wrangler items and 48-hour early access. See editions.
  • 4-Item Set ($34.99) is the four packs without the main game.
  • Singles ($9.99) are for people who only want Mole Hole or only want metal.

Square Enix’s store text warns that Deluxe contents are also sold separately. Read your library before you click.

What DLC does not do

It does not add a fifth wrangler. It does not skip the Waterwing Can. It does not raise the demo’s G/F scout cap. It does not transfer extra monsters. It does not replace early party decisions.

If you are still on the fence, play the demo, then buy Standard. Add Mole Hole after you have a family you actually need to farm. Add the Metallic Ring after you have a party worth feeding. Marathons and VIP can wait until you know whether you even like Scout Run.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you scout your first monster.

Is the DLC required to finish the story?

No. The packs are farming, minigame, metal, and scout-run perks. The campaign is the $59.99 game.

Does Deluxe include all four packs?

Yes. Do not buy the 4-Item Set if you already checked out Digital Deluxe.

Is Monster Marathons the same as Wrangler's Gauntlet?

No. Marathons is a side-scrolling expedition minigame. Gauntlet is a battle mode shown in the Monster Wrangler trailer.
