Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World Personality Quiz Answers

Eight starters, one quiz, and the exact sequence that lands the monster you want.

Personality Quiz Answers

The personality quiz hands out one of eight starter monsters before you leave the Witherwood opening sequence. The outcome is not random — it follows a fixed three-question sequence. Once you have chosen Bianca or Nera, answering the same three questions in the same order always produces the same starter. This page is the complete answer map, based on GameRant’s published quiz guide.

Restarting to reroll a favorite is a legitimate first-hour tactic. The starter is one of eight slots, and you will scout replacements within an hour of gameplay if you follow how to scout. The quiz seeds your box, not your endgame team.

The Eight Starters and How to Get Them

The quiz asks three questions. Each answer maps to a category that narrows toward a specific monster. The table below shows all eight starters and the three-answer path to each.

MonsterQuestion 1Question 2Question 3
Slime Knight
Platypunk
Dracky
Mischievous Mole
Stump Chump
Spitnik
Jumping Jackel
Bong Sam III

Full three-answer sequences based on GameRant’s published guide. Sequences will be verified against the full game on December 3, 2026.

What Each Starter Is Good For

Slime Knight — Slime family, physical attacker with a sword. Good on Nera for slime coverage.

Platypunk — Unusual design with a beak that can crush rocks, per Square Enix world feature. Treat it as a small attacker candidate until full game stats exist.

Dracky — Dragon family. Good on Bianca for dragon scouting. A plausible keeper if you want the draconic early path.

Mischievous Mole — Beast family. Square Enix showed it in synthesis examples.

Stump Chump — Nature family. Activates at night in the wild; the quiz version behaves the same way.

Spitnik — A floating machine. Scout target in proficiency test question 2.

Jumping Jackel — Beast family. Square Enix’s published synthesis example uses it as the beast parent for escudogre. One of the most strategically relevant starters.

Bong Sam III — Material family.

How to Use This Page Before and After Launch

Before December 3: Play the demo and restart until you have the monster you want as a starter. Jumping Jackel and Slime Knight are the most discussed strategic starting points.

After December 3: The full game lets you reset your Witherwood save and reroll the quiz. Use the same three-answer sequence.

Reroll Without Losing Your Demo Transfer

Demo transfer rules apply per save slot and per platform. You can make a second demo save, answer the quiz differently, and keep both saves — but only one set of eight monsters transfers per platform. Do not delete your best demo save for a second quiz opener unless you have already transferred.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you scout your first monster.

Does the quiz give different results on Bianca vs Nera?

The quiz is identical on both paths. Your starter does not change based on which wrangler you chose.

Is Jumping Jackel the best starter for synthesis?

It is one of two starters with a named published recipe. Slime Knight is the other commonly discussed synthesis starting point.

Can I keep my demo transfer if I restart the demo to reroll?

Restarting the demo does not delete your platform save slot's transfer. Do not delete the demo itself; just restart.
